The Bedford Bulldogs Athletic Booster Club is proud to announce a new scholarship opportunity with the formation of the Charlie Zink Memorial Scholarship. One deserving graduate of the class of 2024 will receive $1,000.00 toward a secondary educational program.

Charlie Zink was an active and driven student athlete at Bedford High School and a member of the class of 2024. Charlie passed away in 2021 after his freshman year from an undiagnosed heart condition called hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. He was always learning and always playing and he taught us so much in his short 15 years.

Charlie loved school and was influenced by so many great teachers in town who he developed meaningful relationships with. He loved writing, science and art, but his favorite subject was math. He talked often about a career in math and dreamed of becoming an engineer that designs roller coasters. Charlie loved being part of a team. During his year at BHS, Charlie played on the freshman soccer team and basketball team and also ran track. He had many individual athletic aspirations, but he was driven by team success. He was always hustling for loose balls and crashing boards hard, and he took pride in doing the little things on the field or the court. He was often not the top scorer, but was always the hardest worker. Charlie’s drive and work ethic were inspiring.

The criteria for this scholarship are as follows:

  • Must be a graduating senior in the class of 2024 planning to attend post-secondary education
  • Must be a student athlete involved in multiple BHS sports
  • Must be a student with a GPA of 3.5 or higher (please include transcript)
